The MLA Seeding Grant Initiative for Research 2024

The Muslim Lecturers Association (MLA) is pleased to announce the launch of MLA Seeding Grant Initiative for Research (SGI-2024). This initiative is designed to support and encourage Muslim lecturers in Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics and College of Education to undertake innovative research projects.

Grant Details:

  1. Grant Amount: a minimum of N100,000 and maximum of 500,000.00 per selected project.
  2.  Number of Grants: Multiple grants will be awarded based on the quality and relevance of proposed research projects.
  3.  Duration: Projects are expected to be completed within 12 months from the date of receiving the grant.
  4. Eligibility: This grant is open to all Muslim lecturers interested in conducting impactful research within the knowledge clusters of the Association. The Principal Investigator (PI), who will lead a research team must be at least three years in the institution by the time of application and will be responsible and held accountable for the conduct of the research. The research can be in collaboration with researchers in research institutes, entres of Excellence and the industry.

Submission Instructions:

To apply for the MLA Seeding Grant Initiative for Research (SGIR- 2024), follow the steps below:

  1. Expression of Interest:  This will be submitted on line: Visit the official MLA website (https://mlanigeria.org/mla-grant-application-2024/). Locate the “Grant Initiative” section. Complete the online Expression of Interest form, providing your name, university affiliation, and contact details.
  2.   Proposal Submission: Shortlisted applicants will receive an email with instructions and a link to submit a detailed research proposal.The online submission platform will guide you through the proposal submission process. Ensure all required information is provided.Application Deadline: 15th September- 15th October, 2024
  3. Additional Information: Knowledge Clusters: Research projects can fall within any of the knowledge clusters of the Association.
  4. Funding Assistance: The committee of the Grant will work closely with recipients to attract additional funding for advancing research projects and scaling up their impact.
  5. Reporting and Accountability: Grant recipients are required to provide periodic updates on the progress of their research. A final report, highlighting achievements, challenges, and outcomes, is expected at the conclusion of the research project.
