
MLA appoints Directors of Knowledge Clusters
The Muslim Lecturers Association has appointed new Directors for its Knowledge Clusters.
In July 2022, the Association created seven Knowledge Clusters and commence organization of its 626 members into
- Agriculture
- Arts and Humanities
- Basic and Applied Sciences
- Education
- Engineering and Environmental Sciences
- Health and Life Sciences
- Management and Social Sciences
Following nomination process and cabinet reviews of recommendations, 7 dons were appointed from different higher institutions in Nigeria to lead the seven Knowledge Clusters. These are
- Assoc. Prof. Tajudeen Amusa from University of Ilorin for the Agriculture Knowledge Cluster;
- Prof. AbdulAzeez Shittu of University of Abuja for Arts and Humanities,
- Prof. Hakeem Shittu of the University of Benin for Basic and Applied Sciences;
- Prof. Gobir Ilyasu of University of Federal University Dutsin-ma, Katsina State for Education ;
- Prof. Mondiu Durowoju of Ladoke Akintola University for Engineering and Environmental Sciences;
- Prof. Muhammed Aliyu of Modibbo Adama University, Yola – Health and Life Sciences and
- Prof. Olufemi Saibu of the University of Lagos for Management and Social Sciences .
The inauguration took place on the 9th October 2022. The President of the Association thanked the new Directors for their readiness to serve Allah through this new assignment and charged them to effectively manage the members of their Clusters and ensure the professional growth of members. It is the desire of the Association to groom and mentor exemplary lecturers and leaders of academic disciplines who will be worthy in, name, character, professional competence and morality.
In their responses, the new Directors expressed their readiness to serve Allah through the Association and committed to build robust strategies that makes unique contribution to education sector in Nigeria.
The Vice President, Assoc. Prof. AbdulWasiu Ajagbe and the General Secretary, in their remarks also thanked the new Directors and pledged to give them needed supports in their Clusters activities.
